Planning all of that Disney magic into one day can be tricky, mainly because it’s split over two parks that are completely different. You want to experience them both but there is so much to do, from the many rides to parades, shows and extra attractions – not to mention the delicious snacks and drinks. 

So, can a trip to Disneyland Paris be done in one day? Yes, it is possible to plan a one day trip to Disneyland Paris but it helps if you’ve either been to the parks before or done your research to understand the layout and know which areas you want to focus on. 

Although it can be tempting to save money and go for a one park ticket, to get the most out of your one day in Disneyland Paris purchase a 2 park dated ticket in advance, this will give you access to both the Disneyland Park and Disney Adventure World.

1 day itinerary for Disneyland Paris

Morning

Start the day off by heading to Big Thunder Mountain, it’s a popular ride so the queue can get big pretty quickly and only gets worse throughout the day.  

Afterwards take some time to explore the rest of Frontierland, there are a few shops, the Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing and loads of cool scenery to take in. The Phantom Manor ride is a great addition and really fun if you have some spare time and the queue is manageable. 

After your snack head to Discovery Land where you can find a great mix of rides including Hyperspace Mountain, Autopia and Star Tours. Pick one ride in this area if there’s a long queue or two if they’re 20 mins or less. 

When you come out of Discovery Land go to the left to walk up Main Street for a Disney inspired late morning snack. We love anything themed as they’re so unique but some standout recommendations include the Mickey Beignet from the Cookie Kitchen, or the Mickey Sandwich or Ham and Cheese Toastie from Market House Deli. 

From Main Street take a stroll throughLe Passage Enchanté d’Aladdin in Adventureland. This walking attraction takes you through the journey of the Aladdin story with miniature scenes that have incredible detail. Definitely a stop not to miss! 

Next spend 30 minutes exploring the caves around the skull and the bridge at Adventure Isle. Once you’ve finished exploring, add the Pirates of the Caribbean ride to your itinerary. The effort and detail that’s gone into the ride shouldn’t be missed, it’s our absolute favourite family ride at Disneyland Paris.

Afternoon

During the normal lunchtime rush, take some time out and see a show. We 100% recommend the Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands show but there are plenty to see – just take a look on the app. You may think the rides are quieter during this time because everyone is eating lunch but we’ve found that this is the busiest time for rides. 

After the show you’re probably going to be ready to grab some lunch. There’s a huge variety of restaurants in Disneyland Paris so there’s plenty of choice. 

I’d recommend taking a look at the menus in advance on the Disneyland Paris website so that you already have an idea of where you want to go and don’t waste time trying to figure that out on the day. 

Cowboy Cookout Barbecue or Casa de Coco are both good if you see the Lion King show as they’re right near the theatre and serve delicious food. 

Once you’re refuelled leave the Disneyland Park and head into Disney Adventure World. To save time use the Disneyland Paris app to see which rides have the shortest queue and start there.

Our recommendations for the best rides in Disney Adventure World are Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Ratatouille, Cars Road Trip. This is based on how much we love the ride and the queue times.

Once you’ve spent a few hours enjoying the rides at Walt Disney Studios Park head back to the Disneyland Paris park and towards Fantasyland. On your way make sure to have a look around the Sleeping Beauty Castle and visit the Dragon that lives underneath. It’s an awesome animatronic that is well worth a quick visit in your way past.  

In Fantasyland go to the March Hare Refreshments for one of their amazing ice creams. They’re decorated so intricately and in true mad hatter tradition everything is edible – even the spoon! 

Next on your list is the most iconic and unmissable Disney ride – It’s a Small World. 

If you have time between riding It’s a Small World and the parade go on either Peter Pan, Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains (snow white) or Les Voyages de Pinocchio. There’s not that much difference between the rides so choose whichever has the shortest queue time. 

Evening

Everyday at 5.30pm you can watch the main parade at Disneyland Paris. Settle down on Main Street or the Central Plaza around 30 mins before and you can get a great view to enjoy the show. 

Once the show finishes it’s time for your evening meal so head to the Disney Village for some great restaurant options. 

If you’re on a budget then grab a pizza deal (I don’t know why but Mickey shaped pizza tastes the best!) or head to Earls Sandwiches. If you’re happy to splurge then you can find Annette’s Diner and Rainforest Café dotted throughout the Disney Village. 

Our favourite sit down restaurant is located just outside the Disney Village – Downtown restaurant in the Art of Marvel hotel. They serve a marvel themed buffet that’s perfect for even the fussiest eaters. The main draw is the superhero themed desserts including the Captain America shield or Thor’s hammer. This is a very popular restaurant so booking is absolutely required well in advance for this one.

Depending on the time of year you visit you could have a couple of hours before you need to start getting in position for the fireworks. Use this time to ride whatever has the best queue time on the app. This is the quietest time in both parks so you should be able to get on quite a few rides during this time. 

End your day with Disney Tales of Magic firework display over the sleeping beauty castle. It really is the perfect way to round out a day trip to Disneyland Paris and you won’t regret staying late to watch them.

Tips for a one day Disneyland Paris itinerary

1. Do some research before you travel so you know what to see and where to go. You can use blogs (like this one), the Disneyland Paris website and Youtube to get inspiration, an understanding of the layout of the parks, and see what others liked (and didn’t!). We love this Youtube channel for Disneyland Paris inspo, even 5 years later we still watch their latest videos before each trip!

2. If your schedule and budget allows, book a stay in a Disney hotel the night before so you get access to the park an hour earlier than everyone else with the Early Magic Hour. Hotel Cheyenne is our favourite for the price and value for money but there are many Disneyland Paris hotels to choose from with different price points and features. Another bonus is that you can spend the evening wandering around the Disney Village which you can explore without park tickets. 

3. Get to the gates 30 – 45 minutes before opening, the queues to get in grow quickly and it’ll be easier for you to get off to a good start if you’re not behind hundreds of people just to get through the gates. 

4. Queue times for popular rides can be up to 2 hours during peak times so if you can afford to, purchase the Disney Premier Access to bypass lines on specific rides. This is especially useful if the main rides you don’t want to miss are popular ones like Crush’s Coaster, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril or Big Thunder Mountain. 

5. I could not do a Disneyland Paris trip without the app! It really is the ultimate guide to your day so make sure you download the app and set it up before your visit. You can see ride times, save rides and attractions to your wishlist, join the queue for popular characters, and see the menu at various food stops. 

6. You absolutely should go to the parks with an itinerary planned out if you only have one day in Disneyland Paris. Having said this, you also need to be flexible to change depending on queue times and how fast your day is moving. If you really want to do a ride but the queue is almost 2 hours then skip and come back towards the end of the day. If you’re visiting in the summer when the parks are open later the queues do quieten down slightly in the evening. 

7. Don’t book a sit down restaurant for every meal as this just takes up time that could be used on another ride or character meet. There are loads of tasty fast food spots dotted around both parks with seating for you to grab a quick snack or have a larger meal. Some of our favourites are Cowboy Cookout Barbeque, Toad Hall Restaurant, Market House Deli, the Hollywood Gardens Restaurant, Earl of Sandwich, and Downtown Restaurant. 

8. You can explore Disney Village for free because you don’t need a park ticket to get into the Disney Village. Don’t use valuable ride time looking around the shops here during your park day if you can help it. Instead book a nearby hotel for the night before. Not only will you get to Disneyland early but you can use the evening before your park day to fully explore the shops and restaurants in the Disney Village.
